Biography
What comes before – or more importantly… why mention this is your third career if there’s no before story??? Keep this in mind, people don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it! When most people try and sell you something, they tell you what they have to sell and how they made it (e.g. features)… but they don’t tell you why they do what they do, and so, their appeal sounds like a sales pitch. In today’s world when people are inundated by ads on a moment to moment basis; the way to stand out is to communicate differently.
Artist’s Statement
Soon after I made the decision to seriously pursue jewelry making as a career (my 3rd!) I saw a few pieces of chainmaille jewelry in a small local crafts shop in California. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them! The patterns of the rings or “weaves” completely consumed my artistic being and I began shortly thereafter teaching myself this ancient art of ring weaving.
As I learned more and more I came to the realization that there are nearly an endless number of weaves and variations, endless wire choices, & many metals, accents and embellishments that can be combined any way I wanted. Somewhat needless to say, making Chainmaille jewelry quickly became my passion.
In addition to chainmaille, my jewelry interests include metalsmithing, sculpture, lapidary and photography.

What I Love Most…
I find my delight daily in the rhythm of it all; blending the ancient techniques of chainmaille ring-weaving with current fashion trends to create a truly unique aesthetic. I spend most days in my small studio in this lovely seaside village (Sea Cliff, NY) linking rings together one by one, following the pattern… It’s very meditative!

This is my third and best career! My first, teaching Latin to high school students, left me with a love for ancient cultures. Now, I am particularly interested in the intricate jewelry designs and techniques of the Tuscan, Roman and Greek masters. In spite of their antiquity, they would be at home in today's jewelry shops. The major part of my life was spent in the corporate world, and there I learned the practical skills of organization and research. All those many years in that position, I longed to pursue more artistic endeavors!
In my early retirement, I visited my sister in California and saw that she had started making jewelry. I wanted to do that too! She picked me up at the airport and we drove straight to the bead store! I saw a few pieces of chainmaille jewelry in a small local crafts shop. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of them! The patterns of the rings or “weaves” completely enthralled me. After learning the rudimentary techniques of chainmaille and the use of equipment to cut the metals into rings at a local lapidary shop, I took off on my own to explore the many variations chainmaille has to offer!
