Bronze and Stainless Steel Chainmaille Bracelet. I love the combination of these two earthy metals, bronze and steel! This is a sturdy, hefty piece for fans of statement jewelry!
Process: Each of my chainmaille pieces is made by hand. When I began making chainmaille I used mostly sterling silver and I enlisted my husband to use my jumpringer system to cut the rings. Now I use many more types of materials and many excellent vendors are available to purchase rings. In each case, two pair of pliers are used, one holds the chain, the other grabs an open jump rings and adds it to the last.
Chainmaille Weave: Vertebrae, a variant of European, with an extra large ring added in the middle.
Material Bronze: The Bronze Age took its name from this metal, the same used in those beautiful statues from antiquity. Used in jewelry, it is affordable and has a warm rich color. It is a lovely contrast to the rugged stainless steel.
Rings: Heavy gauge so you do not have to worry about the rings pulling about. The rings are cut from square wire rather than the usual round wire giving the unusual appearance. A patina has been applied to the bronze rings to prevent tarnishing and resulting in a warm rosy color. After applying the patina, the rings have been buffed and polished.
Width and Length. Bracelets are 7 1/2 inches long, considered the norm. Length can be adjusted 1/2 inch shorter or longer at no additional cost.
