Stainless Steel Chain and Link Chainmaille Necklace. This sophisticated necklace suits any accasion. Made from stainless steel rings, this is a weighty piece, nevertheless it lies flat on the neck and is very comfortable to wear. The rugged stainless steel rings are set off by gold accents in the tiny gold beads dangling from each ring in front to the gold anodized aluminum chainmaille finish in the back of the necklace. It is 20 inches long and closes with a toggle clasp.
Process: Each of my chainmaille pieces is made by hand. When I began making chainmaille I used mostly sterling silver and I enlisted my husband to use my jumpringer system to cut the rings. Now, in addition to sterling silver, I use many more types of materials and many excellent vendors are available to purchase rings. In each case, two pair of pliers are used, one holds the chain, the other grabs an open jump ring and adds it to the last.
Chainmaille Weave: Vertebrae, A variant of European. An extra larger ring is added at the middle.
Material: Stainless steel, a great material for chainmaille. It does not rust or tarnish, is hefty and very strong and has the look of silver. Anodized aluminum in a light gold color.
Rings: Heavy gauge so you do not have to worry about the rings pulling about.
Width and Length. 20 inches long. Length can be adjusted 1 inch longer or shorter at no additional charge.
